Hector and the Search for Happiness

"Once upon a time there was a young psychiatrist called Hector who was not very satisfied with himself". The beginning line from one of my favorite books of the last few years. French writer Francois Lelord has created one of the most charming, introspective characters you might ever read about in his short novel, Hector and the Search for Happiness.

Andy says:  David Foster Wallace fans!  Stop in and check out David Lipsky's book Although Of Course You End Up Becoming Yourself, a book about Lipsky's strange road trip in 1996 with Wallace while he was on his book tour for Infinite Jest.  Lipsky's ability to get to the heart of things with Wallace (as well as get under his skin at times) makes this a fascinating and must-read for fans of Wallace.

Andy says:  Just finished the new Andrew Gross novel Reckless.  Gross has a style that makes you want to keep flipping pages but to not read too fast because you might miss something.  International intrigue combined with the real world financial troubles the world is facing.  I am a fan of authors that can make the plot of a thriller sound plausible....Gross certainly accomplishes that. We have it in stock now!

Andy says:  I was a bit skeptical when I started Christopher Farnsworth's Blood Oath.  When we received our advance copy, I looked at the cover and read the words "The President's Vampire".  I laughed, put the book down and went on with other work.  Later, though, Randy encouraged me to read it.  I guess the adage of not judging a book by its cover still works because I'm now a HUGE fan of this book.  Farnsworth, a screenwriter and journalist, uses his screenwriting skills to create a story and character (Nathaniel Cade) that is as good as any of the genre that I've read.  We have plenty of autographed copies here!  It's the Destinations Summer Reading Pick!
